The ETG LMS

The feeling: The builder showing you the thing he built. Proud in a quiet way, specific, a little wry. Every feature named by its real name in the app.
L1We build our own LMS0:00 to 0:26

Hi. At ETG, we code and build our own LMS.

We do that for one reason. When you build it yourself, you can build it specifically to help a student learn, understand and revise Economics in the most efficient and effective way, instead of fitting Economics into somebody else's platform.

Let me show you what is inside.

MR TOH

Seated with the laptop open beside you, screen towards camera. 'We code and build our own' with a small shrug, like it is the obvious thing to do. This is the thumbnail frame.

Camera

Lounge. Medium shot so the laptop screen is in frame. A second angle over his shoulder onto the screen is worth 20 seconds later.

L2The weekly revision programme and the weekly quiz0:26 to 0:53

First, there is an inbuilt weekly revision programme. Every week the LMS tells you which concepts to revise, and you tick them off as you go: not started, practised, confident.

And there is a weekly quiz that tests you on the content. If you get a question wrong, it comes back in a later quiz until you get it right.

MR TOH

Plain. Point at the screen on 'tells you which concepts'.

Camera

Hold the medium shot. Cut-in to the screen if the recording exists.

L3Ask Econs0:53 to 1:22

Second, Ask Econs. It is an instant consult. Any question you do not quite get, you type it in and you get a proper answer, with Economics rigour, drawn from our own notes, model answers and marking frameworks.

Every answer tells you how confident it is. And when it is not confident, it says so and sends you to your tutor instead of guessing.

MR TOH

The second line is the honesty beat. Say it like a feature, because it is one.

L4TYS Practice1:22 to 1:42

Third, TYS Practice. Real A Level questions from 2016 to 2025, worked one part at a time.

You write a part, you submit it, and you get hints and guidance towards the right answer. Not the answer itself. The thinking is still yours.

MR TOH

'The thinking is still yours' is the point. Slow on it.

SwapFilm this section as a clean standalone take. If feature_flags.grade_my_work is off for students, Bazli drops L5 and the video still runs.

Fourth, Grade my Work. You submit an essay or a case study, typed or as a PDF, and it is graded by ETG Intelligence.

ETG Intelligence is calibrated on more than a decade of our own marked work, our rubrics and our model answers. So what comes back is graded the way we grade: a score, a breakdown by part, and the top things to fix.

MR TOH

'Graded the way we grade' is the claim, and it is the honest one. No percentages.

L6The weekly graded homework2:11 to 2:30

Fifth, from July every year, we run a weekly graded homework programme.

You submit your homework on the LMS, it is graded there with feedback, and your tutor releases the grade. Every piece of it goes into your record.

MR TOH

Plain. 'Every piece of it goes into your record' sets up the next section.

L7The progress map2:30 to 3:23

And this is the most powerful part. All of the work you put through the LMS, the quizzes, the practice, the homework, the essays you submit, builds a map of your Economics.

It is called My Economics Map. Every theme is scored from 0 to 100 from your own marked work, so you can see where you are strong and where the marks are leaking.

It picks up the recurring patterns in your own writing, the habits that are costing you marks, and shows you the sentence where it happened.

And it tells you what to work on next, chosen from your weakest evidence, not from a generic list.

It only knows what you have put through it. The more you do, the sharper it gets.

MR TOH

Slow down. Lean towards the screen. This is the section a parent watches twice. The last two lines are the honest beat: it is not magic, it is your own work, analysed.

Camera

Over the shoulder on the screen for the map, then back to the medium close-up for the last line.

And of course, the old school things are there too. Every lesson is recorded, and all the lesson materials are on the LMS.

Miss a lesson? You just watch it.

And our textbooks are built to match. See a lesson code on a chapter, type that code into the LMS, and the recording for that lesson is right there.

MR TOH

Pick up the textbook, point at a lesson code, then at the screen. Simple, physical, no sell.

We are here to build the best Economics tuition product we can. The LMS is one of the things our students get, and we keep building it.

The map first

This is my student's Economics, as a map. Every theme scored from her own marked work, the habits costing her marks, and what she should do next. We built the system that draws this ourselves. Let me show you the rest of it.

Open on the most powerful screen instead of the claim. Film over the shoulder on My Economics Map (test account), then turn to camera.

Alt 2

The 11pm question

It is 11pm and you are stuck on a question. At ETG you open the LMS and ask. You get a proper answer, and it tells you how sure it is. That is one of eight things our LMS does, and we built every one of them ourselves.

Starts from the student's moment, not the product. Pairs with Faith Tan's '12am' quote as the overlay.

On the table

Confirm with Mr Toh

  1. Is feature_flags.grade_my_work switched on for students today, and for which cohorts? If it is off, the Grade my Work section (L5) and card LMS-A03 come out of the cut until it is on. The 8 September handover left this open.
  2. The weekly graded homework programme: you said it starts in July each year; last year's priority videos said June. Which month goes on camera?
  3. Lesson codes: confirm the exact way a student finds a recording from a textbook code (search in Modules by the code, or the code printed in the module title). The script says 'type the code into the LMS'.
  4. The closing link for an evergreen video: tuitiongenius.com, or the trial page? The script says 'tuitiongenius.com'.
  5. Screen recordings: the strongest visual is the real LMS. Can you (or Jieshi) record the seven screens in the shot list (LMS-A13) on a test student account with no real student's name visible?
  6. Credits and weekly quotas are per-student and change; the script names none. Keep it that way unless you want a number on camera.

Notes for Mr Toh before reading the script

This one is evergreen, so nothing in it can go stale: no dates, no prices, no 'this September'. It explains what a student gets on the LMS and why it is built the way it is. It runs on the website, in the onboarding email, and in any season's campaign.

The spine is your brief: we build our own LMS; the weekly revision programme and quiz; Ask Econs; TYS Practice; Grade my Work; the weekly graded homework; the progress map (the most powerful part); and the recordings with lesson codes. One feature per card, in that order. Say the section code ('L4'), pause, go.

Say every feature by its name in the app: Revision Programme, Weekly Quiz, Ask Econs, TYS Practice, Grade my Work, My Economics Map, Modules. Bazli's overlays and the screen recordings use the same names, so the viewer can find them.

Two honesty beats are built in and they make the rest believable: Ask Econs tells you how confident it is and sends you to your tutor when it is not; the progress map only knows what you have put through it. Say those plainly.

The strongest visual is the real LMS on screen, not a card. If you can, film with the laptop open beside you and let Bazli cut to the screen recordings in the shot list (LMS-A13).
